3 Mary Ann Porter Hartzell

Mary Ann Porter was born May 24, 1880 in Peoria (Lord’s Hill), Knox County, Illinois.  She was the eighth child of John Henry Porter, and the only child of John Henry Porter’s marriage with Anna Sarah Coffin Porter.

She married James Hartzell on January 27, 1900.  James died on June 22, 1940.

Mary Ann Porter died on May 3, 1961, and is buried at Summit View Cemetery in Guthrie, Oklahoma (block 32, lot 33, lot purchased by O.C. Porter).

The January 24, 1920 Census in Crutchfield, Tulsa, Tulsa County, Oklahoma records the following:

 

James Hartzell, 62, born in Kansas, father from Illinois, father from Pennsylvania, mother from Indiana, occupation: Plasterer (house).

Mary Hartzell, wife, 40, born in Illinois, father from Ohio, mother from Illinois.

The 1900 Census in Wayne, Allen County, Indiana records the following:

 

James Hartzell, 42, born February, 1858 in Ohio, father from Pennsylvania, mother from Pennsylvania, occupation: Plasterer, age 17 at first marriage.

Emma O. Hartzell, wife, 40, born October 1859 in Indiana, father from Germany, mother from Ohio.
