Welcome to the FAMILY porter history web site |
|
In the June 1, 1880 Census in Victoria, Knox County, Illinois, records the following. This is interesting in that it suggests that Amelia was reported to have been born in (Vermont) (parenthesis probably meant they were not sure where she was born). |
|
Familysearch.org reports:
John Wesley Furgeson,
Eli Charles Furgeson, father of John Wesley Furgeson,
Sister of John Wesley Furgeson: Kate Furgeson, born 1863, Angola, Lagrange, Indiana. |

Published Friday, April 18, 1902. Mrs. Martha Furgeson died suddenly at her home in the south part of the city Sunday afternoon of heart trouble. She was the mother of twelve children, ten of whom are living. The two oldest are twins, 17 years old while the youngest is a babe of a few months. The family are in destitute circumstances, and it would seem that the charitably inclined have an excellent opportunity to do good. Rev Hyasine conducted the funeral services at the house Monday afternoon, and the remains were buried by the county. Mrs. Martha L Furgeson, who lives on South Summit Street, died very suddenly Sunday afternoon. She had been out in the garden with her husband and returning sat down for a minute or two and fell over dead. She had been troubled with heart disease and the stoppage of the heart caused her death. She was 34 years old and the mother of twelve children, the oldest of whom are twin boys aged 17. The funeral services were held Monday afternoon by Rev Braniac with the interment at Mercer. Mrs. M. L. Furgeson dropped dead at the family residence on south Summit street on Sunday, of heart disease. She was only 34 years old and the mother of 12 children. |
