Hi Ron,            Been going back to my pictures & other info concerning Fair Oak/Darnell school.  I spoke with Max Porter (my uncle) who said that it was a one room school, 1 thru 8th grades. He could not recall it being called Fair Oak nor do I ever remember my dad or anyone ever refer to it as anything but Darnell. Max said there was once some people by the name of Darnell living somewhere around there. I suspect the school name was changed sometime between 1917 & the early 20's.  In my research on my grandmother Kate Adams Porter, I made contact with a lady who's grandmother also went to school at Fair Oak/Darnell. She e-mailed me a picture which has the date 1916 written on it. It is the same group of children but slightly different. I also have two pictures, one with the girls sitting on a wooden bridge & one with the boys, which I believe you have on your website. I have visited the Darnell school site many times & there is a bridge very near the school. The Porter family lived in the same section as the Darnell school was located. The school building is still there. It was moved perhaps two hundred yards & turned into a house which was lived in until about 10 yrs. ago. I took a picture as it sits today.  In conclusion, not only are the Porter kids there but others I know in the photos are also located within 2 miles of the school we know as Darnell. One small boy in the picture later grows up & lives all of his life in the schoolhouse. Also there are 3 girls in the photos that were my grandmother Kate's first cousins that I know went to school at Darnell.     Hope this info helps.........Happy Holidays,  Jim (Jimmy Porter, December 26, 2005)
